Small Business Champion Award Day

In celebration of National Small Business Week, the Small Business Development Center at Onondaga Community College hosted the "Small Business Champion Award Day" to honor successful small business entrepreneurs who have utilized the services of the Small Business Development Center at OCC. The event took place May 9, 2007, in the Great Room of Gordon Student Center at OCC.

County Executive Nicholas J. Pirro and OCC President Debbie L. Sydow presented the awards to 17 entrepreneurs. The County Executive was also the keynote speaker and was presented with an award for his many years of supporting the Small Business Development Center and entrepreneurship in Central New York.

Dr. Sydow emphasized the contributions of the SBDC and its long standing relationship with Onondaga Community College.

Mary Hoffman, Associate Director of the NYS SBDC and Cathy Pokines of the SBA also spoke of the contributions of small business to the economic development of Central New York.

The entrepreneurs being honored are involved in a variety of businesses. The businesses are both small and large operations and include retail, consulting, agriculture, high tech and manufacturing.
