The SBDC at Onondaga Community College is part of the New York State Small Business Development Centers, a  network of 23 regional centers supported by the U.S. Small Business Administration, the NYS Department of Education/SUNY, and the national SBDC system.(Association of Small Business Centers

Counseling Services at Onondaga SBDC

Our primary service to small business is one-on-one, client-directed business counseling. Counseling sessions are free, confidential and are provided by trained and experienced counselors to all types of businesses..

Our contacts with clients range from simple one-time inquiries that satisfy an immediate need or can span several years as the business grows and faces new demands. Examples of area in which we can provide assistance include:

  • Business Plan Development
  • Market Research Support
  • Loan Packaging
  • Legal Entity Selection
  • Regulatory and Licensing Issues
  • Financial Analysis
  • Networking with Other Business Resources

The SBDC also offers numerous education and training opportunities. In addition to our Introduction to Business Start-Up classes, the SBDC offers classes/seminars designed to address specific operational/technical needs clients.

The SBDC provides a variety of specialized services to its clients, such as tapping into a dedicated business Research Network maintained by our parent organization. This research provides clients with market research, industry data, sector profiles and a range of related data that the client would not otherwise be able to access.

Finally, the SBDC offers a 3 day program called "Fast Track to Business Start Up." This  class is designed to get potential entrepreneurs up and running quickly!  Presentations by business experts.

The SBDC provides services to the Central New York region of Onondaga, Southern Oswego, Cayuga, Seneca, western Madison and Cortland counties. In addition to our main offices on the OCC campus, the SBDC staffs part-time outreach centers.
